INDIANAPOLIS — An 18-year-old is suing the City of Indianapolis and a local police officer after he says “fabricated evidence” was used to falsely accuse him of pulling a gun during an incident at Riverside Park.
Lawsuit filed after charges dropped
A Marion County resident, who is not being named by FOX59/CBS4 because he no longer faces criminal charges, filed the lawsuit Monday in federal court. He is now asking a judge to declare a jury trial and enter a judgment against both the City and the IMPD sergeant who arrested him.
The filing stems from an April 2026 incident during which the 18-year-old was arrested in the parking lot of a popular park on the city’s near northwest side. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office later dropped the charges against the teen, citing “evidentiary problems.”
Now, the 18-year-old is alleging that those evidentiary problems were in fact fabricated evidence and blatant lies. The lawsuit filing alleges that the IMPD Sergeant who made the arrest at Riverside Park made up a story that did not match the footage on her own body-worn camera…
