CVS Health (Woonsocket, R.I.) has opened its first set of pharmacy-focused locations in Birmingham, Ala., Chicago, Detroit, Houston and Washington, D.C. The locales, with about 3000 square feet of space, offer a full-service pharmacy with a customized-by-neighborhood selection of over-the-counter products available for purchase.
In all, CVS Health plans to opening a total of roughly 20 pharmacy-focused locations in select other communities across the country in coming months, the company said in a news release. While the company did not identify any further target cities for the program than those mentioned earlier, it did say the first neighborhood site CVS just opened near the Gulf Freeway in Houston will be joined by two other similar locations in that market over the next year or so.
