State funding for rape crisis centers nearly doubled in Pennsylvania’s recently passed budget; a head nod to the squeeze centers felt with last years budget impasse.
During the first two weeks of July, non profit directors waited with baited breath for updates;
“My first reaction was ‘what the heck they haven’t passed a state budget yet’,” joked Amy Blackman, co-assistant director at the Crime Victim Center of Erie. “That was concerning because we’ve all been sitting on pins and needles, waiting to see if this was going to go through or not.”…
