KCK could pay up to $11 million more city, county property taxes next year. What to know

Wyandotte County officials recently debated for hours over how they should handle a likely tax increase in the coming year.

At the end of a three-hour meeting, the Unified Government Board of Commissioners voted 6-3 to open the door to consider that increase. They also scheduled a public hearing that’ll allow people to weigh in.

Commissioners’ resolution gives city and county staff the opportunity to propose an increase that in 2027 would give the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and KCK up to $11 million more in combined property tax dollars than this year…
