The Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office formally filed charges against a pair of brothers from Kenner accused of pretending to be a juvenile in online chats in order to blackmail a man they alleged exchanged sexually inappropriate messages with them.
Frank Thompson, 22, and Butch Thompson, 26, are accused of then posing as police officers and demanding cash and valuables from the man, Kenner police investigators said.
The Thompson brothers were charged Friday with extortion, false personation of a peace officer, theft and burglary of an inhabited dwelling, court records said.
Frank and Butch Thompson met the victim of the blackmail plot, a 68-year-old Kenner man, on the dating app Grindr while posing as an underage teen, according to the Kenner Police Department.
