(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A suspicious death on the southeast side of Colorado Springs on Thursday, July 17 is now being investigated as a homicide, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD sent out an update on Monday, July 20, and said when officers arrived shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Thursday to the 2700 block of Delta Drive, no immediate cause of death could be determined. However, with investigative work from the Homicide Unit and the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, it was discovered that the victim had suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

According to CSPD, the coroner has identified the victim as 53-year-old Cody Applin. While the coroner has yet to determine the official cause and manner of death, Applin’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
