SANDY SPRINGS, GA — One driver died and another was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash shut down lanes on Interstate 285 eastbound in Sandy Springs early Saturday. Police say emergency crews were called to the area near the New Northside Drive bridge around 3:22 a.m.
What Police Saw
Sandy Springs police said officers arrived to find a crash involving two vehicles and injuries at the scene. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital for treatment after medics responded.
Authorities later said one driver died from injuries suffered in the wreck. The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Investigators have not released the names of either driver. Police also have not said what caused the collision.
