Two gourmet biscuit brands have merged. Biscuit Belly has acquired 34 locations from Maple Street Biscuit Co., a subsidiary of Cracker Barrel. The purchase will accelerate Biscuit Belly’s expansion across the Southeast and will bring the brand to more than 60 units by the end of 2028.
Biscuit Belly plans to convert Maple Street locations to its brand over the next 18 to 24 months. In the release, the brand states the acquisition will allow it to enter new territories and gain a larger presence in current markets by leveraging established infrastructure and store-level teams.
“Acquiring an iconic brand like Maple Street, one of the original gourmet biscuit sandwich concepts, was not on my 2026 bingo card,” says Chad Coulter, co-founder and CEO of Biscuit Belly, in a statement. “Two of the biggest headwinds that growing brands encounter are the time required to find and build locations, and the difficulty of finding great teams.
