AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – Across Ohio, the number of cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal bug that causes some very unpleasant symptoms including explosive diarrhea, appear to be growing rapidly.
The Summit County Department of Health on Tuesday said it is evaluating 224 cases, an increase of nearly ten-fold of what the state is reporting for the county on its tracker.
“Definitely lots of cases. When all is said and done, we will be able to sort through the number and the data so we can get a clearer picture of what is going on, but things are very rapidly evolving,” said Dr. Erika Sobolewski, the county’s health director.
