WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Two cats and a woman were rescued from a home after an accidental fire in D.C. on Tuesday.
3 hospitalized after shots fired from vehicles in Northeast DC: Police
Crews responded to the 5200 block of East Capitol Street SE and began an “aggressive interior attack.” The fire was contained to the back of the home with no exposure to nearby properties.

Crews used a ground ladder to rescue a woman from the second floor. The cause of the fire was deemed accidental and due to an unspecified “electrical event.”
