In a more familiar development, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate declined to respond to questions about recent reporting on his voting records and real estate holdings, steering the event back to law enforcement and public safety.
Speaking alongside more than 20 Texas sheriffs, Paxton framed his upcoming race as a choice on law enforcement and public safety, highlighting his record as attorney general and accusing his opponent State Rep. James Talarico, D-Austin, of supporting policies he said would weaken public safety.
