Public Hearing Set for Hotel and Condos Project in Redmont

The Birmingham City Council has set a public hearing for Aug. 25 on a request to rezone property in the Redmont neighborhood to accommodate a boutique hotel.

The property at 1240 22nd St. S. would be rezoned from mixed-use medium to qualified mixed-use high, which would allow for a building height of up to 125 feet. The proposed development would have 80 hotel rooms and about 15 condominium units on the top floors, according to the developer.
