Sprinkler stops nursing home fire in Olathe; residents relocated inside

OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) – A single sprinkler head did exactly what it was designed to do early Wednesday — knock down a small fire at an Olathe nursing home before it could spread.

Fire crews were called at 2:37 a.m. to Azria Health Olathe, 201 E. Flaming Road, just west of Old 56 Highway and Harrison Street, after a fire was reported in an electrical panel inside a small mechanical room, officials said.

The fire damage was contained to the panel and did not spread beyond the room, according to responders. Crews checked for any extension using a thermal imager and by cutting exploratory holes in sheetrock, which is standard procedure.
