Shreveport Regional Airport working toward nonstop Cancún flight

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Shreveport Regional Airport is working toward a nonstop flight to Cancún, Mexico, but officials say a dedicated customs facility must be completed before an airline can be selected or a start date set.

Airport leaders said Customs and Border Protection already operates at the airport, but a separate facility is needed to process international arrivals.

What has to happen first

Mark Crawford, airport business and development manager, said the facility is currently under construction.

“So, we know that there is a lot of demand for Cancun service from the ArkLaTex region,” Crawford said. “We are building out the space now to be able to offer that… it’s kind of the chicken and the egg — you have to have the space before you can have the flights.”…
