Reno-Tahoe airport opens new park-and-walk lot to ease parking crunch during peak travel

Travelers flying out of Reno have another option when airport parking fills up during holidays, weekends and major events.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport has opened a new Park & Walk lot, converting a former overflow area into a permanent parking option with 560 spaces. Jena Esposito of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority said the lot is now available as a 24/7 option to help ease parking constraints at RNO, particularly during busy summer travel periods and on weekends.

The Park & Walk lot costs $16 a day, making it the airport’s lowest-priced parking option. Airport officials said the trade-off is that travelers should plan for about a 10- to 15-minute walk to the terminal and there is no shuttle service.

“The Park and Walk lot is considered walkable. Again, it is about a 10 to 15-minute walk, so if that’s not going to suit your travel needs, please plan ahead and find another transportation option that fits best for you,” Esposito said. “But if you’re willing to have a walk with your bags and save a couple bucks on parking, this option is for you.”…
