COLONIE — An expansive store remodel continued this week at the Trader Joe’s on Wolf Road, with the storefront’s former neighbors now demolished to make room for additional store space, more parking and a new entrance at the popular grocery store.
Gutting of the former Honey Baked Ham building — located in the same plaza — began in mid-May, a little over a month after the store closed in early April. Since then, permits were approved for demolition of the 3,000-square-foot building and the 6,800-square-foot space two vacant storefronts occupy within the existing Trader Joe’s building, Colonie Town Supervisor Peter Crummey confirmed Wednesday. An additional “build-out permit” to renovate the store was approved, as well as signage for an additional entrance on the south side of the store that was approved by the town Tuesday night.
