New hearing scheduled in Chuck Wright ethics case

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The South Carolina State Ethics Commission has rescheduled a formal hearing for more than 60 ethics charges against former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright.

The hearing has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 20 in Columbia. The hearing was initially meant to take place on June 19, however officials said they chose to reschedule in order to wait for the results of Wright’s federal case.

The hearing is scheduled to address allegations claiming that Wright failed to recuse himself from the hiring process of his son, and appointed his son as a Spartanburg County deputy sheriff in July 2024…
