KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Alcohol distributor Republic National Distributing Company has issued conditional Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notices to more than 600 workers in Michigan, state records show, amid a potential acquisition.
The notices apply to employees at five RNDC sites across the state. One is located at 4495 Airwest Dr. SE near 44th Street in Kentwood. The other four sites are in the Traverse City, Escanaba, Livonia and Saginaw areas. In total, 641 jobs in Michigan could be impacted, though the company did not specify how many came from each site. State records list a layoff date of Aug. 17.

The notices are conditional, RNDC specified in a statement provided to News 8, and online records list the reason as an “acquisition/merger.” Earlier this year, Martignetti Companies announced it had reached an initial agreement to acquire RNDC’s operations in “control states” — the 17 states where the government controls the sale of distilled spirits at the wholesale level. Michigan is one of those states.
