(PINPOINT WEATHER) — A slow-moving cold front is trying to push southeast across the region tonight, bringing waves of rain–heavy at times–and storms to parts of the area. Due to the slow movement with repeated downpours, flooding may quickly develop in spots. A Flood Watch will be in effect through Thursday evening. Stay weather aware, and if you’re out driving and come upon any standing water, remember– turn around, don’t drown!
Thursday morning could be quite difficult getting around with heavy rain that may last a while over parts of the Charlotte metro and Piedmont. The steadier rain may taper off by late afternoon, but scattered showers and storms will continue to develop. Off-and-on rainy or stormy weather could linger into Friday and Saturday as well.
By then, up to 2-3 inches of rain could have fallen in the Foothills, Piedmont and into South Carolina. Isolated higher amounts can’t be ruled out.
All of the clouds and rain will keep temperatures in check for a few days, with highs only in the 70s to lower 80s. It’s short-lived, though, as the hot, summery pattern returns for next week.
