The area has started to see some rain — even localized flooding over the weekend — but drought conditions remain and Falls Lake continues to be at its lowest level in years.
Jason Garrett of Franklinton, who said he has been fishing Falls Lake his whole life, said some boat ramps on the lake are effectively unusable because of the low water level.
“This one’s fine, up until you get up to the mouth out here,” Garrett said, referring to the Upper Barton Creek ramp, where was bringing his boat out of the water Monday, July 20, after what he described as a successful morning of fishing.
