Coroner identifies Boise pedestrian killed in early morning crash on I-84

BOISE, Idaho — A Boise man has died from injuries he suffered after being hit by a car while walking along Interstate 84 in Meridian earlier this month, according to the Ada County Coroner’s Office.

Kenneth Zabel, 76, died at 7:30 a.m. July 19 at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise after lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, the coroner’s office said.

ISP said the man, now identified as Zabel, was walking westbound in the far-right lane of the interstate when he was hit by a 2013 Nissan 370Z driven by a 19-year-old Meridian man. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on July 12…
