Arepazo Latino & Bar, in the heart of Lakewood at Warren and Detroit, is not your typical taco stand. It is a colorful and friendly restaurant that features a huge menu of Colombian and Mexican food and drink. When you enter, the large dining room has tables, booths and a bar. We like to sit in a window booth — it’s a great place to watch Lakewood go by.
Warm chips and salsa appear as soon as you sit down, something to keep you busy while perusing the menu. Then they take your beverage orders. They have Jarritos soda in many flavors for the kids, and Margaritas in many flavors for the adults. A!so many tequilas and local beers.
Trying to decide with so many choices is tough. For instance, I counted 10 different types of meat as well as fish and shrimp dishes on the menu. Everything we have ever ordered has been just wonderful. Jan particularly enjoys the tortilla soup, while I am very fond of the mole sauce, which stands out as the best in town. The fish and shrimp tacos are amazing too.
Service is quick and the plates arrive steaming hot. Your server will warn you “don’t touch the plate, it’s hot.” But you will anyway…
