SILVER SPRING, Md. (DC News Now) — A woman is facing 20 years in prison after she caused a crash that killed an 85-year-old and left another person seriously hurt in Silver Spring.
The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that Jesica Argueta previously pled guilty to vehicular manslaughter by gross negligence and second-degree assault for a crash that occurred in 2025.

The Crash
On Aug. 7, 2025, Argueta was driving a 2025 Toyota and had been weaving in and out of rush-hour traffic in Silver Spring.
Around 7:45 a.m., while driving on Randolph Road, Argueta crashed into a Toyota 4Runner that was trying to make a left turn onto Sherwood Forest Drive.
The 4Runner’s driver and front seat passenger, 85-year-old Josephine Gieske, were both rushed to the hospital. However, Gieske died from her injuries more than two weeks later on Aug. 22…
