(KRON) — Two men were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday for the murder of a San Mateo father who was ambushed in his driveway in front of his 2-year-old son, prosecutors announced.
Isileli Mahe, 34, of Oakland, and John Talia Paasi, 33, of San Mateo, were each convicted on March 26 of first-degree murder and assault with a semi-automatic firearm. An allegation that the murderers were lying in wait was found true. The jury trial lasted 24 days.
On Oct. 30, 2020, the murder victim, 30-year-old Ueta Muasika, was buckling his son into his car seat in the family’s driveway on Eleanor Drive when Mahe and Paasi approached in a vehicle. One of the men got out and fired 14 shots at Muasika, fatally wounding the father and hitting the toddler once in the face, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office said.
The boy miraculously survived the shooting after being rushed to a trauma center…
