Borough warns of fraudulent planning and zoning scams

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A Midstate borough is sounding the alarm on the latest scam involving fraudulent planning and zoning emails.

According to Penbrook Borough, the FBI recently warned the public of a nationwide scam in which criminals impersonate city and county officials to trick residents and businesses into making fraudulent payments for planning and zoning permits.

The borough said that the emails often include fake invoices and may request payment by wire transfer for permit or application fees…
