Weekend closures ahead as GSP Airport launches runway repairs

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport’s Runway 4/22 last underwent major maintenance, including repaving and shoulder repairs, three decades ago.

Since then, heavier aircraft and increasing air traffic have accelerated wear and tear on the runway.

To address the deterioration, the airport is preparing for a critical rehabilitation project that will repair more than 6,500 feet of runway and 11,000 feet of shoulder and safety areas. The project will also restore concrete panels and runway markings…
