With more students arriving from beyond Louisiana, Xavier University is investing nearly $81 million in a new residential building designed to transform campus living and meet growing demand for housing.
The seven-story Xavier Residence Village at 4700 Dixon St. will span about 225,900 square feet and provide 852 student beds. The project is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
The mixed-use first floor will include a dining hall, multipurpose classrooms, study and instructional spaces, and student lounges. Two residential wings will be connected by a skybridge overlooking a rooftop terrace and entry courtyard.
Manning Architects designed the project. Construction is being handled by a joint venture between Broadmoor and Legacy Builders.
