Physicians rally amid contract negotiations with Providence area hospitals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The union representing physicians at some of the largest hospitals in the Providence metro area held a rally Thursday amid ongoing contract negotiations.

“We want to get the fair contract we need and deserve, so we can take care of ourselves and take care of our patients,” said Kit Quain, a child psychiatry fellow at Rhode Island Hospital and union member.

The Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR/SEIU) represents hundreds of resident physicians and fellows in Rhode Island. The union is in the middle of its first contract negotiations with Rhode Island Hospital, as well as Women & Infants, Butler and Kent hospitals…
