BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A heavy law enforcement presence as well as multiple ambulances were in downtown Bakersfield Friday morning after a crash involving a Kern County sheriff’s bus that was transporting inmates.
Two sheriff’s buses, at least three ambulances and other police and sheriff’s vehicles were parked at 20th and L streets.
The bus sideswiped a 3-foot pole, knocking it over, police said. The bus sustained damage in the crash which occurred around 7 a.m.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Lori Meza said there were no visible or obvious injuries. All 19 inmates and two sheriff’s employees on board initially declined medical aid, she said, but three inmates later requested to be seen at a hospital and will be transported…
