CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — Jason Maxedon, the Executive Director of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), has announced his retirement, effective Nov. 30, 2026 according to an e-mail sent July 21 to TWRA employees by Emily Buck, TWRA’s Director of Public Relations.
We requested an interview Friday morning (July 24) with Maxedon but were told he was not available for an interview today. Buck added, “We will check schedules and get back to you.”
We also requested the video which was recorded by Maxedon and sent out with the e-mail to employees. Buck replied, “No, we will not be providing it. We had intentions of making an announcement to press once Director Maxedon was ready to take his announcement public.”
However, NewsChannel 9 received a copy of the video from a source who asked not to be identified. In the video Maxedon said, “With a new grandbaby arriving in October, my wife and I have an opportunity to move back home and spend more time with family, and it’s the right moment for us.”…
