Recurring flooding on Union County road leads to stranded driver, frustration among neighbors

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Residents along Ridge Road in Indian Trail are frustrated after heavy rainfall once again flooded the roadway, leading to a water rescue Friday morning.

Union County officials confirmed that a male driver became stranded in floodwaters on Ridge Road near Porter Ridge Middle School. Officials said the man, who was driving a Chevrolet Malibu, was shaken when he was rescued by the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department, but did not require medical attention.

“We were going to go around, but we didn’t think it was closed from this side,” said Tahnia Carballido, who encountered the flooded road while trying to get home.
