DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Zoo is in mourning after the recent passing of a six-year-old beloved Bactrian camel.

According to a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, the Zoo’s six-year-old Critically Endangered Bactrian Camel, Hagrid, died on Tuesday shortly after Animal Care and Veterinary Medicine teams noticed signs of gastrointestinal discomfort.
Veterinarian staff gave Hagrid a physical exam, providing supportive care and pain medicine as they sought to determine what caused the sudden discomfort; however, he passed away on Tuesday evening in his habitat.
