Partway through U.S. Rep. Troy Carter’s speech in front of a new amenity at a park in the Cut-Off neighborhood in Algiers on Friday, an enormous red bucket dumped gallons of cold water into the park behind him.
“That’s only the beginning,” Carter joked, standing in front of Cut Off Recreation Center’s new splash pad during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The 2,000 square-foot splash pad, which cost nearly $1 million and officially opened about two weeks ago, has 30 fixtures and jets that shoot out water, and an enormous bucket that can douse kids every 7 minutes…
