An undeveloped plot of land in Kenner’s Laketown will soon become a $19M concert amphitheater

Kenner’s Laketown area could begin to see thousands of visitors next year for concerts as a plan to build a $19 million amphitheater to spur economic development moves toward construction.

Jefferson Parish Council Member Arita Bohannan announced Wednesday the concert venue would soon go out for construction bids, after parish and city officials were able to secure funds, finish designs and clear permitting hurdles over the last two years.

They will build an amphitheater along Lake Pontchartrain’s shoreline capable of hosting concerts of up to 15,000 attendees.

“It is reflective of months and months of innovation, meetings and hard work,” Bohannan told the Parish Council. “We are moving this vision that we had to a reality.”…
