LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Families got a jump on the new school year this weekend at a free back-to-school bash hosted by the Jella Family McDonald’s.
The third-annual event was on Saturday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McDonald’s located at 6400 Greenwood Road in Louisville. Organizers say the community resource event included giveaways such as backpacks filled with school supplies, bikes, hygiene products, books and free haircuts, along with additional resources from local organizations.
Event host and McDonald’s owner/operator Nagendra Jella says the goal was to support local families as students prepare to return to the classroom. Last year, organizers say they gave away more than 300 stuffed backpacks, along with several bikes and gift cards…
