Wichita is under an extreme heat warning for Saturday, and a heat advisory is posted for the area through Tuesday, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.
Saturday’s high is expected to top out at 99 degrees with winds out of the south at 7 to 9 miles an hour and a maximum heat index of 110, according to NWS data. Heat indices will top 110 degrees Saturday for a region roughly bounded by Topeka, Harper and Coffeyville.
Saturday night’s low in Wichita is supposed to drop to 78 under partly cloudy skies and continued light winds out of the south southeast before Sunday’s temperature jumps all the way to 102 with a maximum heat index of 108, according to the NWS…
