HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A new Alabama law set to take effect Oct. 1 increases the penalties for leaving the scene of a crash, elevating the offense to a Class B felony carrying a sentence of no less than two years and up to 20 years in prison.
Mark McDaniel, an attorney with 49 years of experience who said he has handled thousands of hit-and-run cases, said the change doubles the previous penalty.
