American Tourist Missing in Grenada: Family and Authorities Seek Help
Elizabeth Waddell, a 44-year-old woman from Cary, North Carolina, has gone missing while vacationing in Grenada. The Royal Grenada Police Force reported that she was last seen on Wednesday at the popular Grand Anse Beach in St. George, the nation’s capital.
Waddell, who was staying in the area known for its white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters, disappeared after going for a swim. Authorities have appealed to local fishermen, boat operators, and residents along the southern coastline to report any information about her whereabouts. She is described as being of medium build, approximately 5-foot-5 inches tall, with short blond hair.
The U.S. State Department confirmed they are aware of the situation and are monitoring developments.
Elizabeth’s husband, Cailen Waddell, took to Facebook to ask for assistance, stating, “Liz went missing in the afternoon on Wednesday. I am on my way there now to help search. I expect nothing less than Liz’s safe return – so please send your love, light, thoughts, and prayers our way.”
Friends and family have been actively searching and coordinating efforts. Amanda Romano-Harmon, a longtime friend, shared with NBC affiliate WRAL-TV that Elizabeth was vacationing with a friend at an Airbnb.
The friend was taking an online course when Elizabeth went for a swim and did not return. Romano-Harmon explained that when the friend finished her course, she noticed Elizabeth was missing and found her towel left on the pier, leading to immediate concern and a missing person report.
Known for her adventurous spirit, Elizabeth is the founder of Art of Movement Physical Therapy and enjoys traveling, hiking, and meeting new people.
