BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — A large sinkhole has forced the closure of part of Roberts Industrial Drive in Birmingham’s Ensley community Monday afternoon.
The sinkhole is located on Roberts Industrial Drive, just off 13th Street in Ensley, where crews have surrounded the area with traffic cones to keep drivers away from the damaged section of roadway.
A nearby business owner told ABC 33/40 the city was notified about the problem two to three weeks ago, when the hole was much smaller. Since then, repeated rainfall is believed to have caused the sinkhole to grow significantly…
