Private schools in AHSAA weighing potential shift to new private school association

Last week, the Gulf States Independent Athletic Association (GSIAA) was officially announced at a meeting in Montgomery that could see a number of private schools in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) eventually move into the new league.

Representatives from the Alabama Independent School Association (AISAA) and 89 of 93 private schools in the AHSAA were present at the meeting that had more than 150 people in attendance. The GSIAA will now begin forming a board for the new association that is expected to begin play next season.
