A suspected shoplifter with a long history of stealing from local retailers was arrested after allegedly swiping a rotisserie chicken and a Gatorade from Walmart.
Richard Lee McCreary, 59, of Fruitland Park, was taken into custody on Friday afternoon at the Walmart in Summerfield.
According to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a loss prevention agent spotted McCreary placing merchandise near the fence line leading to the parking lot in the garden center. After McCreary left the store and the merchandise was recovered, he re-entered the business, selected a rotisserie chicken and a blue Gatorade, and left without paying.
