Man gets 11 years after plea in deadly 2024 Lake Park shooting

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man charged with first-degree murder in a deadly 2024 Lake Park shooting avoided a new jury trial Monday by pleading guilty to a reduced charge.

Quron Nixon-Wynds entered a best-interest plea to accessory after the fact to first-degree murder during a hearing in Palm Beach County court. Under that type of plea, Nixon-Wynds did not admit guilt but acknowledged that accepting the agreement was in his best interest based on the evidence against him.

A judge sentenced Nixon-Wynds to 11 years in state prison. He will receive credit for 845 days he has already spent in the Palm Beach County jail…
