A West Valley man is accused of turning home renovations into a costly headache across the Wasatch Front, with prosecutors saying he collected more than $127,000 from Utah homeowners, then walked away from a trail of half-finished and botched jobs in Tooele, Lehi and Eagle Mountain between August 2025 and March 2026.
Charges Say He Used Other Licenses To Land The Work
According to KSL.com, David Langi Jr. was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with five counts of communications fraud and eight counts of engaging in the construction trade without a license.
Charging documents cited by the outlet say Langi allegedly used contractor licenses that belonged to other companies, then requested additional money for materials before going silent or delivering work that was only partially completed and riddled with defects.
State Regulators Had Already Flagged His Name
Before the new criminal case surfaced, Langi’s name had already landed on the radar of state regulators.
