HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) confirmed that the cause of a Makakilo house fire was accidental.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 20, near Hooko Place around 12:19 p.m. HFD reported that the fire originated in a vehicle parked in the carport of the structure when its overheating engine ignited residual engine oil that spread to the rest of the vehicle, adjacent vehicles, and surrounding combustible materials including the carport.
The estimated fire loss is $18,000, including $1,000 in property damage and $17,000 in damaged contents…
