NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Multiple rounds of heavy rain are expected to drench large parts of New York and New Jersey on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the tri-state until 8 p.m. Wednesday as forecasters expect the area to get battered with as much as 2 to 5 inches of rain. Parts of the lower Hudson Valley and northeast New Jersey could also get as much as 7 inches of rainfall.

Timing of the thunderstorms
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move in after 2 p.m. on Tuesday and are likely to continue on and off through 2 p.m. Wednesday, forecasters from the National Weather Service say. It’s possible that those showers can linger through Wednesday night as well.
Things will likely clear up briefly on Thursday morning before another round of showers after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
