VFW Post 3418 Hosting Ride for Community Member Fighting Prostate Cancer
Jeep owners never need a reason to get together and go for a cruise, but occasionally they’re cool enough to let the rest of us tag along. This ride the Jeepers are getting together for is all about prostate cancer. The Mockabees are a well-known family in Boonville, primarily because of Devin Mockabee’s success as a Purdue football standout, but also because the family is active in the community. One of Devin’s many relatives, Scott Mockabee, is fighting a battle with prostate cancer. In the United States, prostate cancer will touch the lives of one in eight men. To put that in perspective, just under 334,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the next year. To help bring awareness and to raise funds for Scott Mockabee, Boonville VFW Post 3418 is hosting a benefit ride and day of fun, and the public is invited!
Join VFW Post 3418 This Saturday to Be a Part of the Ride
This Saturday, August 1, will be a fun-filled day to help raise funds for Scott’s treatment and everything that comes along with fighting cancer. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Scott myself, and if there’s anything I know, it’s that this man always shows up. There is not a fundraiser in Boonville that I’ve been to that he has not been at. While speaking to Mockabee family friend Ashlee, she said it was time to show up for him now, and I couldn’t agree more. The best part? It’s going to be one heck of a fun-filled day! While Jeeps will be leading the charge, all vehicles are welcome, including motorcycles and side-by-sides. Registration starts at 9 am at Boonville VFW Post 3418 and costs $20, with all proceeds going towards Scott’s treatment and care. Roll out expected to start by 10 am. Lunch will be provided, and a half pot and live auction will be some of the many opportunities available to give back while having some fun.
