LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Project leaders say they are on schedule to reopen two lanes of traffic in both directions on a five-mile stretch of I-65 by Saturday, August 1, ending a two-month shutdown that has pushed traffic into neighborhoods across Louisville.
What drivers should expect
Drivers should not expect conditions to return to normal immediately, though. The speed limit on I-65 will drop to 40 miles per hour, and crews will continue working alongside passing vehicles.
“It is so important for people to realize and keep in mind, I-65 very much remains a construction zone,” Mindy Peterson, project spokesperson, emphasized. “We are reopening with crews still working. They’ll be working dayside instead of that 24/7 approach.
