IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – As the heat index stretched into the triple digits Monday, fairgoers and livestock at fairs across the state really felt the heat.
At the Johnson County Fair, visitors cooled off with lemonades and shaved ice. Children involved with 4-H gave the livestock they’re showing frequent baths and keep large fans aimed at the animals to keep them cool.
