IOWA CITY — Iowa’s Board of Regents this week is expected to approve a new policy banning University of Iowa Health Care from asking its doctors, physician assistants, pharmacists and nurses to sign noncompete agreements upon hire — after lawmakers last session passed a bill prohibiting them.
House File 2254 only bars noncompete clauses at UIHC, meaning other Iowa hospitals still can use noncompete agreements, which typically commit employees who leave not to work for a certain period of time with any competitors within a certain vicinity.
