LUBBOCK, Texas — The Citizens of Lubbock Against Data Centers reached the necessary 2,410 signatures for its petition Saturday, according to group organizer Stephen Sanders.
The petition calls for an 18-month moratorium on data centers, essentially a temporary ban on any data center within city limits.
“It’s not an outright ban,” said Stephen Sanders, a lead organizer of the petition. “We’re giving the city an opportunity to have time to make the right decision.”
